The creation of Woodnet was inspired by study tours in France where their "Filiere Foret Bois" networks were seen to be a positve stimulus to timber flows from their regional woods and sawmills. Mutual benefits were evident and a strong regional wood economy marshalled funding and investment for marketing and adding-value ventures.
This report sets out a case for revisiting the original objectives of supporting a joined-up regional timber sector and re-structuring Woodnet as a vehicle to deliver positive outcomes for woodland owners, processors and timber users.
